In this article, we are going to find a solution to issues with the stereo system. It is advisable to begin with the simplest methods first, namely: resetting the system and starting from scratch.
How to reset the stereo system on a Jeep Grand Cherokee?
Firstly, it is necessary to clear the cache by performing a system reset.
- Press the “START” button or start the vehicle without starting the engine.
- Press and hold the tuning knob and volume button simultaneously.
- This will cause the infotainment system screen to first turn off and then turn back on, indicating a system reboot.
Another method to reset the stereo involves executing a hard reset. Unlike a soft reset, a hard reset eradicates all saved settings from your system and restores the infotainment system to its original factory settings.
Here are the steps to perform a hard reset:

- Simultaneously press the driver-side temperature up and down buttons.
- Hold these buttons for 4-6 seconds until the screen displays “Engineering Menu.”
- Navigate through the menu by pressing the down buttons until you locate “Radio Reset.”
- Hold down the same buttons as in Step 1. This action should result in the Jeep logo flashing before the screen shuts off.
- The system will reboot, displaying the Jeep logo once again, and returning you to the main UConnect screen.
Alternatively, you can access the infotainment system directly and initiate a hard reset by accessing the Settings menu:
- Tap or choose the “Vehicle” tab from the main menu.
- Access the “Settings” option located at the top right corner.
- Select the “Reset” tab if available. If not, scroll down to find the “Reset” section.
- Press “Factory Reset” and allow the infotainment system to reboot. Following a hard reset of your infotainment system, it will be necessary to update the software and reload your GPS data and contacts.
